A little help from the pit wall

Back on track.

Widgets, reminders, subscriptions. Here’s how to make RaceCal work for your race weekend.

Widgets & countdowns

How do I add a RaceCal widget?

Touch and hold an empty area of your iPhone or iPad Home Screen, choose Edit → Add Widget, and search for RaceCal. Choose an F1, F2 or F3 countdown, or an F1 season-progress widget. Open RaceCal first so it has a calendar to share.

Can I count down to the race instead of practice?

In RaceCal, open Settings → Race day → Countdown target. Choose First session for the next unfinished session, usually starting with Practice 1, or Main race for the Grand Prix or Feature Race. The Weekend screen and countdown widgets share this setting.

Why hasn’t my widget refreshed?

iOS decides when widgets run. RaceCal prepares future countdown changes in advance and requests a refresh roughly every six hours, but the system may delay it. A widget can also refresh its calendar independently.

Open RaceCal with an internet connection to refresh its schedule. Confirm the countdown target and race series, then check the widget again. A widget update does not independently reschedule your app’s reminders.

Personal reminders

How do I choose which sessions get a reminder?

Open a future session and tap its reminder control to choose a lead time. For automatic reminders, go to Settings → Personal reminders and choose the series and session types you follow. You can override the automatic choice for individual sessions.

Personal reminders are part of RaceCal Plus, and are included for eligible existing users.

I saved a reminder. Why didn’t it arrive?

Check notification permission for RaceCal in iOS Settings, along with Focus and notification-delivery settings. In RaceCal, inspect the reminder queue status: a saved choice and an alert already queued by iOS are different things.

RaceCal queues the nearest eligible reminders, up to 48 at a time. Later selections wait for a future refresh. A reminder whose lead time has already passed cannot be scheduled for that past time.

What happens if a session is rescheduled?

When RaceCal receives an updated calendar, it reconciles your selected reminders. These are local notifications, so the app needs an opportunity to run. Background refresh is controlled by iOS; if you never reopen the app, a previously scheduled reminder may retain an old time.

Open RaceCal during race week to get the latest available schedule. RaceCal Plus does not provide server-delivered remote push notifications.

Purchases & restoration

I used RaceCal before. Do I need to subscribe?

No. Verified customers who purchased the original one-time unlock, or originally downloaded RaceCal before the 2.0 subscription edition, receive all premium features free for life.

Open Settings → RaceCal Plus → Restore Purchases using the same Apple Account. If verification is temporarily unavailable, try again with a connection before buying anything.

What does the annual plan include?

RaceCal Plus adds personal session reminders, automatic rules by series and session type, and your choice of lead time. Calendar browsing, photographic widgets and the bundled archive are free.

The annual plan is US$2.99 in the US storefront. Your actual local price is shown in the app before purchase. It renews automatically until cancelled. See the subscription terms.

How do I manage or cancel a subscription?

Use Manage subscription in RaceCal Plus when your plan is active, or open iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → RaceCal. Apple manages billing and cancellation. For a billing issue or refund request, visit Apple’s Report a Problem.

Why is everything unlocked in TestFlight?

All premium features are included during TestFlight testing. This temporary testing access does not become a lifetime purchase. If you want to test the annual subscription, use RaceCal Plus → Test annual subscription. Normal testing never requires a purchase.

Calendars & results

Which seasons can I browse offline?

RaceCal includes F1 calendars for 2018–2025 and F2/F3 calendars for 2021–2025. Current and next-season schedules are downloaded when available, and a successful download remains available in the local cache.

Are results and standings live?

No. RaceCal’s F1 archive contains bundled historical results and final driver and team standings, attributed to F1DB. New results are not streamed live. F2 and F3 result links open the official championship websites.

Race results stay hidden until you choose to reveal them; you can change the spoiler preference in Settings.

Where does the calendar data come from?

Public schedule files come from Sportstimes. Historical F1 results come from F1DB. RaceCal validates downloaded files and keeps its last good cache when a refresh fails. Last checked describes a download time, not a guarantee that a source has captured every change.

If a time looks wrong, compare it with the official championship schedule and send the series, event, session and your time zone to support.
